Joe Meriwether wins Week 17 and Geiger grabbed top prize. Joe Meriwether won the last week of the Beat Big Daddy contest by getting 14 out of 16 picks right. Meriwether also jumped to sixth place on the season leaderboard.
Four other contestants had 13 correct picks, Matt Jones, Tom Geiger, Curt Bonar and Jim Yoder.
I had 11 picks right after my big win last week. That was good enough to put me in 17th place in the season standings.
Tom Geiger locked up the season title by picking 13 correct games. That gives him a total of 176 points for the year. Geiger made a hard run at the end of the year. He was in tenth place seven games behind the leader going into week 13. Geiger outpicked the leader 60-48 to close out the final five weeks to bring home the top prize, a 32” T.V.
I would like to thank all of you who participated in this year’s contest. It has been a lot of fun and I hope you enjoyed it too.
Now we have the playoffs and the Super Bowl is in Indianapolis. After that will be the draft, mini-camps and next thing you know it will be Labor Day time for the NFL to kick things off. So now you have time to reflect on your picking schemes and see what adjustments you need to make. We will see in the fall if you have what it takes to   Beat Big Daddy in 2012.
