Churubusco baseball team hosted the Angola Hornets and lost 7-1.
The Eagles were the first to get on the scoreboard scoring one in the first. The Hornets answered back in the second with four runs. Both teams were scoreless in the third and fourth innings. Angola scored three more in the fifth. Both teams were scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings to end the game 7-1 Angola.
Cody Schaefer, Alan Meeks, and Kody Poyser all went one for three with a single apiece.
Hayden Kilgore was on the mound for the Eagles. Kilgore went seven innings giving up 11 hits and three earned runs while walking two.
The Eagles hosted the Central Noble Cougars on Thursday night. Churubusco was defeated 12-2.
Both teams scored one in the first inning and were scoreless in the second. The Cougars scored two more in the third inning while the Eagles scored one in the fourth. Central Noble scored three more in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to win the game 12-2.
Meeks led the Eagles offense going two for four. Brent Simmons also helped Churubusco going one for three with one RBI.
Simmons got the start on the mound for the Eagles. He went 4 and 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and four earned runs while walking three and striking out six. Closing on the mound was Austin Goepfrich for Churubusco. He went 2 and 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five earned runs while walking two and striking out two.
Churubusco hosted Canterbury on Saturday afternoon and lost 11-2.
Both teams scored two in the first inning. Canterbury scored three more in the second, third, and fifth innings to win the game 11-2.
Poyser led the Eagles at the plate going one for three with a double.
Hayden Kilgore started on the mound for Churubusco going 4 and 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two walks while striking out five. Poyser finished on the mound for the Eagles going 2 and 2/3 innings giving up seven hits, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out three.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday at Indiana Tech against Eastside in the opening round of Sectional play. Come out and support your Eagle baseball!
