Downing finishes freshman season at Semi-State

Freshman Chase Downing competed in the wrestling Semi-State at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Saturday morning. Downing faced sophomore Kegan Kern from Peru in the opening round of the 120-pound weight class.

After the first period, the score was tied 0-0. In the second round, Kern scored on a reversal to take a 2-0 lead. Downing cut the lead down to one with an escape.

The third period was scoreless with Downing falling with a final score of 2-1. Downing finishes his freshman season with a record of 25-13.
