The Churubusco Wrestlers traveled to Woodlan on Saturday to compete in the Woodlan Wrestling Invitational. Churubusco finished in fourth out of eight teams. Woodlan took first with 202.5 points. Leo received second with 190 points, Wayne Trace was third with 172.5 points and Churubusco took fourth with 169.5 points.

Alex Lich went 2-2 for the day and received fifth place in the 106 weight class. Freshman Chase Downing won two matches to make it into the finals in the 120 weight class and lost in the final round by a pin to finish in second place.
Shane Shroyer won in round one and two to make it to the championship match in the 126 weight class. Shroyer lost by tech fall 16-1 to take second place. Adam Boggess also won his first two matches to take him to the finals in the 138 weight class. Boggess lost by a pin to take second place.
Joey Heaton wrestled at 145 weight class for the Eagles and took home a fifth place finish going 2-2 for the day. Travis Glick went 2-2 on the day in the 160 pound weight class finishing fourth for the Churubusco Eagles.
Jason Nicodemus won his first two matches of the day to make it to the finals in the 170 weight class. Nicodemus lost in the finals to finish in second place. Sam Siddons also won his first two matches of the Invitational to make it to the finals in the 182 weight class. Siddons won by a 7-3 decision to take home the 182 pound title.
Brian Richardson wrestled in the 195 weight class for the Eagles. Richardson went 3-1 at the Invitational finishing in third place. Gunnar Barnhart went 3-1 in the 220 weight class finishing in third place. Brad Martin wrestled in the 285 weight class for the Eagles. Martin went 1-3 on the day finishing sixth.
The Churubusco Wrestlers are back in action Saturday at Lakeland for the NECC tournament. The Eagles will be defending their season conference title. Come on out and cheer your Eagle Wrestlers on to a victory.
