Churubusco Wrestlers traveled to Butler Tuesday night to square off with the Eastside Blazers. The Eagles were victorious with a 54-27 win.
“We really didn’t wrestle up to our potential tonight,” said Coach Sam Riesen.
Eastside received six points in the 106 weight class with a forfeit. Busco’s Jacob Ferry would get a forfeit at 113 lbs. Chase Downing would get six points from the mat with a pin. Austin Boggess picked up six more points for the Eagles with a pin. Senior Clint Bechtold would get a forfeit for six more points for the Eagles. Senior Adam Boggess pinned his opponent in 41 seconds in the 145 weight class.
At 160 lbs., Braydon Shively pinned his opponent and the Eagles received two forfeits in the 182 and 195 weigh classes. The Eagles won 54-27.
“The score looks pretty good because we received a few forfeits,” explained Coach Riesen. “Our guys came out a little bit flat and we lost some matches that we knew would be tough for us. It wasn’t a perfect night, but it was a night that we did what we needed to do to get the win.”
On Thursday night, the Busco Wrestlers hosted Central Noble for their only home match of the season. Busco dominated the mat with a 57-18.
Shane Shroyer received a forfiet to begin the night for the Eagles. Austin Boggess won by a 15-11 decision to keep it going. Central Noble won in the 138 lb. match with a pin. At 145, Adam Boggess received a pin for the Eagles for another six points.
Brandon Wormcastle would get a forfeit at 152 and so would Braydon Shively at 160. Central Noble would get a pin to make it 27-12 Churubusco. Sam Siddons, Jason Nicodemus, and Gunnar Barnhart all received forfeits. Eric Kuznar would get three points for the Eagles with an 8-4 decision in the 285 lb. match. Jacob Ferry won with a 13-8 decision in the 113 weight class. Chase Downing won with a pin in 1:22 making it a 57-18 Eagle win over Central Noble.
Busco Wrestlers are 7-0 in the NECC and are back in action on Thursday at Westview. With a win over the Warriors the Eagles will clinch the Conference title. Follow your team up to Westview and root for your Busco wrestlers as they are looking to go 9-0 in the NECC.
