(Kasey Gibson)Churubusco senior softball player Kasey Gibson was recently named first team All State by the IGCSA. This is the second consecutive first team recognition by the Lady Eagle standout along with third team All State as a sophomore.

The 2013 Churubusco Lady Eagles held their end of the year banquet and said goodbye to a group of talented seniors. Combined the group played over 500 high school games together and won 20 varsity letters. They received recognition in the All-Conference voting nine times.

Tuesday, May 28, the Eagles baseball team traveled to Indiana Tech, Fort Wayne, to take on Adams Central in Sectional action. The Flying Jets entered the game ranked second in the state in 2A with a record of 23-2. The two teams met earlier in the season when they played a double-header back on May 11. The Eagles played them tough in the first of the two, losing only 1-0, so they were not intimidated by the Jets.

After last week’s advancement from Regional in shot put, Friday, May 31, senior Austin McClure traveled to Bloomington for the Indiana State Track and Field Finals. Having made it to State last year and not performing up to par, he was looking forward to this, his senior year and last attempt to put up a stellar performance; and that, he did.

Tuesday the 21st, the Lady Eagles had one sophomore and two juniors competing in the IHSAA Regional Track meet. As with sectional, only the top three scores in each event will advance on to State.

Girls Track IHSSA Sectional for the Lady Eagles track and field team was held at Northop High School, Tuesday the 14th. Churubusco only had three ladies place in the top four, automatically advancing them on to Tuesday’s (21st) Regional.
