CHURUBUSCO -- Genevieve "Ginny" G. Anderson, 95, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County and widow of Harold G. "Hap" Anderson, passed away at 6:56 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2011, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health, and was taken to the hospital from her home on Saturday.
Mrs. Anderson was born on June 24, 1916 in Noble County, a daughter of Frank and Ethel Mae (Grim) Garrison. She spent her formative years north of Churubusco, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1935.
On April 5, 1941 she was married to Harold G. "Hap" Anderson. She was a homemaker, and a lifelong resident of the Churubusco-area. She loved her flower gardens, and most especially loved and cherished her family.
Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on October 27, 2008.
The surviving relatives include her children, Glen "John" (Mid) Anderson of Churubusco, Judy Owen of Albion, and Harold Junior (Nancy) Anderson of Churubusco; five sisters, Virginia Fulk, Wiladene Shively, and Eva (Gordon) Gilbert, all of Churubusco, and Neva (Herbert) Gaff and Shirley Coe, both of Albion; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julia "Julie" Anderson on June 11, 1967; two brothers, Ralph Garrison and Walter Garrison; a sister, Elsie Mae Garrison; and by a son-in-law, Chuck Owen.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Dwayne Berna, associate pastor of the Merriam Christian Chapel, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Whitley County EMS Medic 21, Churubusco.
