FORT WAYNE -- Harry E. McKinley, Sr., 90, passed away quietly in his sleep on Friday, December 30, 2011, at Parkview Hospital.
He worked over 70 years as a truck driver, finally retiring in his late eighties. “He maintained his sharp wit and humor until the end, if he met you, your name and face would be permanently implanted in his memory. He will be missed.”
He is survived by his sister, Donna Walker of Churubusco; daughter, Becky (Alan) Ricketson of Center, Texas; sons, Harry E. (Beth) McKinley Jr. of Huntington, Wesley R. (Nancy) Welsh of Nacogdoches, Texas and William G. (Patricia) Grice of Fort Wayne; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayreatha K. “Rita” McKinley, in 1990 after 33 years of marriage; his parents, Burton and Mabel (Oplinger) McKinley; and siblings, Robert, “Dutch,” Eva Edwards, Ruth Wall, Marjorie Henline, and Lois Williams. No service at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Midwest Funeral Home & Cremation Society.
