AVILLA -- Nancy Lou Campbell, 65, of Avilla, died on Monday, March 15, 2010, at 9 a.m. at her residence.
Born on February 21, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Mearle Z. and Ruth L. (Wenger) Fisher. On March 13, 1964, in Green Township, Noble County, she married Richard L. Campbell; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2007. She grew up in Jackson, Mich., when she and Richard got married, they lived in Churubusco near Blue Lake and had lived in Avilla for the last 41 years. After 27 years of service as a cook, she retired from Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, in 2002. She was a member of Harvest Community Church, Kendallville, “Threads of Love” Quilting, and was a 35 year member of the Beta Sigma Phi, currently serving as Treasurer. “She was known to never know a stranger.” She also loved to sew, crotchet, cook, and garden.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Campbell and LeRoy (Wahnne) Campbell, both of South Milford. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Fisher.
Funeral service was Friday, March 19, 2010 at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel. Pastor Jack Crothers of the Harvest Community Church officiated.

COLUMBIA CITY -- Nick Adam Lemley, age 32 of Columbia City, passed away 2:57 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at his residence. Born July 28, 1977 in Fort Knox, KY, he was the son of Kenneth L. and Michele M. (Hedrington) Lemley, Jr.
He has spent most of his lifetime in Columbia City, except for a brief time in Sturgis, MI and three years in Churubusco. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1996 and first worked at Essex Wire, Columbia City and then at C&A Tool, Churubusco as a CNC machinist. He was of the Catholic faith, loved camping with his children and family, hunting, fishing and working with his hands.
Survivors include his three children, Alexus Rae Lemley, Huntertown, Anthony Conrad Lemley and Kaylee Dawn Lemley, both of Churubusco; parents, Kenneth L. Lemley, Jr., Churubusco and Michele M. Lemley, Columbia City; one sister, Heather Machlan, Columbia City; three brothers, Kenneth L. III, George A. and Gary M. Lemley, all of Columbia City; three nephews, Michael and Christopher Machlan and Kenneth Lemley, IV, all of Columbia City. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Therese Coleman and grandfather, Kenneth Lemley, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with funeral services following calling at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Marion Carpenter of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Warsaw, officiating. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Lemley's memory to his children's education fund. Virgil J. Bowers, 93, a resident of Albion, passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett following a brief illness. He had been a patient there since March 4.
Mr. Bowers was born on October 23, 1916 in Auburn, a son of Homer and Grace (Farver) Bowers, and spent his formative years in that community. He graduated from Auburn High School, and as a young man served with the U. S. Army during World War II.
On January 5, 1940 he was married to Alma M. Shull. The couple lived in Fort Wayne for a short period before moving to Blue Lake near Churubusco. They had lived in Albion since 1968.
Employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 38 years, he retired from there in 1980.
He was a member of Churubusco Lodge 515 F&AM, Churubusco Order of the Easter Star 136, Knights of the Red Order of Constantine, and the Albion American Legion Post. He had also been a member of the former Albion IOOF.
Mrs. Bowers preceded him in death on September 13, 2009.
Among the surviving relatives are his children, Robert R. (Janet) Bowers of Garrett and Dorothy Ann (William) Scheurich of Avilla; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Victor Bowers; and by a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Chaplain Kenneth Weaver, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Churubusco Lodge 515 F&AM will conduct memorial services at 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Interment will be in Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.

FORT WAYNE -- Robert Wainwright Plasterer, 87, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Born June 22, 1922, in Huntington, son of Rchard and Myrtle (Lee) Plasterer, he moved to Fort Wayne in 1929, and graduated from North Side High School in 1941. He fell in love with the girl next door, Helen Shaffer, and married her on August 30, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He retired from General Electric in 1982, after more than 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul parish for 50 years, serving in many areas of ministry, and was also a member of American Legion Post 47. His family was always his primary focus, he was an extraordinary man who live an extraordinary life.
Robert is survived by his sons, Richard (Robin) of Churubusco and Michael (Debbie) of Ossian; daughters, Janet (Joey) McBride of Goodyear, Ariz. and Barbara (Kevin) Kellogg of Fort Wayne; brother, Allen (Jackie) of New Haven; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Helen; sons, Robert, Jr., Ronnie, Scott and Anthony; daughters, Rose Anne, Laura, and Mary Beth; and sisters, Glenna Armey and Marylin Glover.
Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior at the church. Calling also from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. today at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with Vigil at 3:30 p.m.

FORT WAYNE -- Paul E. Stahlhut, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Hamilton House.
Born January 14, 1920, in Lake Township, he was the son of the late William C. and Anna (Hitzman) Stahlhut. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of Trinity Suburban Lutheran Church, Lake Township Farm Bureau and the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his sister, Ella Dreyer of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Luella Stahlhut of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Luella Helen.
Service was 11 a.m. Saturday at Suburban Bethlehem Church, with Pastor Tim Edwards officiating. Arrangements were by Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel. 420 West Wayne Street.

COLUMBIA CITY -- Lloyd E. Klein, 63, of Columbia City, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte from injuries he incurred in an automobile accident on US 35 south of Kingsbury.
Born October 2, 1946, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Arthur A. and Sevilla I. (Robinette) Klein. He graduated from South Side High School with the Class of 1965. Graduating with the Class of 1971, he completed his education at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. On November 15, 1969, he married Kathy S. Nebehy, in Fort Wayne. The majority of his lifetime he resided in Fort Wayne, then in 1998 he and his family moved to Columbia City. He retired in 2007 from USSI with over 30 years of service as a Chemical Engineer. He was a member of the Spoonpluggers Group; the bridge group at Woodland Senior Center; and was a former member of American Chemical Society. He attended Columbia City United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Kathy Sue Klein of Columbia City; daughter, Jennifer Anne (Brent Bartol) York of Columbia City; brothers, Lee (Pat) Klein of Warsaw and Larry J. Klein of Churubusco; three grandchildren, Leah and Kayla York and Christopher Bartol, all of Columbia City; and sister-in- law, Carol (Tracy Swiontek) Nebehy of Chicago. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn; and his daughter, Amy Klein, who also died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the scene of the accident.
Funeral service was March 13, 2010, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City with Pastor Paul Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating.
