FORT WAYNE -- Lola M. Hagen, 85, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010, in Fort Wayne.
Born in Ft. Atkinson, Wis., Lola has been a resident of Fort Wayne for two years. She attended Fellowship Missionary Church and was a past member of Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay, Wis. Lola enjoyed making quilts for single mothers and family members.
Surviving are her husband, Earl Hagen of Fort Wayne; son, Neil (Diane) Hagen of Lincolnshire, Ill.; daughters, Lynn (Rob) Ryg of Steamboat Springs, Colo. and Robin (Joseph) Collins of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, at D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with Pastors Rob Ryg and Wayne Faye officiating. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco.

AVILLA -- Marjorie R. Wojcik, 44, a resident of rural Avilla, passed away at 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. She had been a patient there since Saturday evening.
Born on October 16, 1965 in Hammond, she was a daughter of John and Susan (Graham) Wojcik. She spent her formative years in East Chicago, but graduated from Snyder High School in Fort Wayne in 1984. Most of her adult life was spent in the Churubusco-area.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. Previously, she had been employed as a waitress at the former S&L Truck Stop in Columbia City and later at Brevin’s Downtown Eatery in Churubusco. She loved flowers and animals, and most especially loved and cherished her family.
The surviving relatives include the love of her life for the past 18 years, Terry A. Krider of rural Avilla; two daughters, Haley Wojcik and Autumn Wojcik, both at home; two sons; her parents, John and Susan Wojcik of East Chicago; a brother, John Wojcik of Hammond; and a sister, Sandra Wojcik of East Chicago.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and by a sister Jill Wojcik.
A private family gathering was held at the Collins United Methodist Church. At the request of Ms. Wojcik, there were no public services or visitation. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to her daughters in care of Terry A. Krider. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco was in charge of the arrangements.

FORT WAYNE -- Sandy “Meemaw” Fox, 72, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Fort Wayne.
Born in Fort Wayne, she was a self-employed licensed Day Care provider for 38 years. She was also a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and a past board member of American Heart Association, Fort Wayne Chapter.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Fox of Fort Wayne; sons, Michael (Cammy) Fox of Churubusco, Bobby (Sheryl) Fox of Fishers and Jerry (Tonya) Fox of Fort Wayne; daughter, Jackie (Mark) Bonahoom of Fort Wayne; adopted daughter and son, Debbie and Bobby Tomlinson of Fort Wayne; brother, Ron Lerch of Fort Wayne; sisters, Teri Stowe of New Jersey and Joyce Bauermeister of Fort Wayne; and 20 grandchildren. Sandy was preceded in death by her son, Jim Fox; and brother, Larry Lerch.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, with calling one hour prior at the church with Msgr. John M. Kuzmich officiating. Calling also from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at D. O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road.

COLUMBIA CITY -- Raymond R. “Butch” Patten, 74, of Columbia City, died Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2010 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past few months.
He was born July 11, 1935 in Wells County, a son of Gail and Waunita (Smith) Patten. His formative years were spent in Ossian. He began his work career as a farm hand and with Elzey Funeral Home in Ossian making ambulance runs and assisting with funerals. He became a truck driver with Mahnensmith and later moved to Ellis Trucking. He was a 20-year member of the Ossian Fire Department. After breaking his back fighting a fire, he became a dispatcher for United Trucking in the early 1970’s. In 1984, he became a full-time farmer for Carl Sheldon Farms, Churubusco until his disability retirement in 1985.
On March 18, 1988 he was united in marriage to Judith D. Herbst. They made their home at Tri-Lakes. In September 2009 they moved to Columbia City.
Surviving are his wife, Judith; three daughters, Kandace Patten of Churubusco, Linda Patten of Columbia City and Tamara Patten of Columbia City; a son, Douglas (Laurie) Patten of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Roxsann (Christopher) Carter of Tri-Lakes and Michele Nichols of Columbia City; three stepsons, Larry Lee Leazier of Columbia City, Donald (Joann) Leazier of Tri-Lakes and Shannon (Tammy) Leazier of Waynedale; 27 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Confer of Ossian; a brother, Donald James (Sarah) Smith of New Haven and an aunt, Mildren (Harry) Thornburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Smith; a sister, Francis Rush; and a stepson, Shane Leazier.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

FORT WAYNE -- Jack Poe Wisman, 86, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Woodview Healthcare, Inc.
Born on March 17, 1924 in Van Wert, Ohio, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the owner of Wisman’s Appliances for over 50 years. He was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church and Kiwanis Club.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerite Aileen (Koorsen) Wisman; daughters, Jacqueline Sue (David) Hatch of Fort Wayne, Kathleen Ann Alexander of Fort Wayne and Caroline Violet Jones of Churubusco; sons, Bruce Poe (Deborah) Wisman of Angola and William Alan Wisman of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;  and sisters, Virginia Wallace and Peggy Beerman, both of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Poe and Bernice Lillie (Williams) Wisman.
Memorial service is 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010,  at Churubusco United Methodist Church, Churubusco, with Pastor Corinne Boruff officiating.
Private burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health & Hospice.

KENDALLVILLE -- Paquita M. “Pat” Kurtz, 95, of Kendallville, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born December 23, 1914, in Kendallville, daughter of Orrie and Mary (Lash) Ihrie, Mrs. Kurtz graduated from Kendallville High School. On January 27, 1940, she married Wade Kurtz. She and her husband owned and operated a popcorn stand located at the corner of Mitchell and Main Streets in Kendallville. She was also Manager of Rimmel’s Hat Shop, and worked at Swartzlander’s Jewelry Store, both in Kendallville. She was a member of the Professional Business Women’s Association in Kendallville, where she was awarded the Business Woman of the Year for 2000-2001. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Kendallville V.F.W. and the American Legion Auxiliary in Kendallville. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James Wade and Drenda Kurtz of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Paula and Bob Kennedy of Fort Wayne and Todd Kurtz of Fort Wayne; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Caleb Kurtz and Noah Kurtz; a sister, Theresia Aumsbaugh of Churubusco; and a brother, Devon Ihrie and companion, Fay Glick of Kendallville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Kurtz on March 10, 1967; two sisters, Eileen Krull and Amy Gongwer; and a brother, Don Ihrie.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kendallville, with Fr. Jim Stoyle officiating.
Calling is from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with a Prayer Vigil at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville. Preferred memorials are to Masses to the church. Condolences are to the family at youngfamilyfuneralhome.com.
