Additional space to be added to Parkview Regional Medical Center

Parkview officials have announced additional space will be built out in two areas of Parkview Regional Medical Center.

The build-out will occur on the seventh floor (medical/surgical) with 36 beds and on the third floor (intensive care unit) with 12 beds. The work will provide Parkview’s medical staff with more options to adapt to the care needs of patients.

The decision to begin the build-out now is a result of study and evaluation of health trends and current and future needs in the community and region. The additional space will be 37,000 square feet, an investment of $14 million.

Plans call for most of the additional space to be completed this spring. Some finish work will extend beyond the March 17 opening of Parkview Regional Medical Center. Completing the majority of the work before the opening means significantly less disruption for patients.

“The build-out is a positive step as we look forward to enhancing access to care and providing excellent care to patients,” said Sue Ehinger, chief operating officer, Parkview Hospital. “As we continue to get closer to opening our new facility, our physicians and staff are excited to welcome patients, families and the public to a place with a commitment to hope and healing and a homelike setting that is warm and inviting.”

With the build-out and current and projected increases in patient volume, Parkview will be adding

jobs. The new positions will be phased in over a period of months.
