CHEERS TO: Chuck Chaffee for being named the Rubber and Plastic Industries Executive of the Year. Same goes for his BRC, its employees and his  family who started this business from the ground up. A real accomplishment. I can well-remember when they purchased the plant south of town and came to Busco.
-Chuck Jones
CHEERS TO CES PTO: For purchasing composition books for all students in grades 1-5 to use in Science Lab for notebooking. Your quick action to have them available for the  first day of school was amazing. Thanks for your continued support of the CES Science Program.
-Liz Schemm,
CES Science
Resource Teacher
WHATABOUT: Praying for all our elected officials in local, state and federal government offices? Positive action, rather than negative reaction might be just what this country needs.
-Bill and Sue Lewis,
Fort Wayne

CHEERS TO: Parker Outlet Center, Dr. Zollinger (Churubusco Family Dentistry), Sheets & Childs Funeral Home and Pit Stop Pizza for sponsoring the Eagle Football Calendars that we are selling to help raise money for a scholarship. Your generosity and willingness to help the students of Churubusco is truly appreciated.
-The Football Moms
And if you would like to purchase or look at one of these calendars, and cannot make it to a Friday night home game, please call Liz Arvola at 693-0524.
CHEERS TO: The Churubusco News for getting the Churubsco Football calendars done so quickly so that we could have them Friday night, at the game, to sell. They look great and we sold quite a few already. Thanks, Guys! AND WHATABOUT: Purchasing a front row parking spot for the Friday night football games. You’ll never have to worry about finding a place to park, especially if you’re running late. We only have a few spots left to sell. If this sounds like something that you are interested in, please contact Sharon Munk or Tina Adams at 693-0764. Come on out and support your hometown team. See you Friday night! AND WHATABOUT: Purchasing a stadium chair from the Football Moms. These bleacher chairs can be used on inside or outside bleachers. They are comfortable and have Churubusco Eagle, with the Eagle emblem on the back. You can use them for any sporting event. If you would like to purchase one or have any questions, you can contact Liz Arvola at 693-0524. We will also take orders at the Football Moms table Friday night at the game. We need to sell 12 more before we can order. Thanks.
-The Football Moms
JEERS TO: The person(s) that stole my AVON sign!
-Debbie Leitch
JEERS TO: The weekly anti-Obama rants that appear in nearly every issue of this newspaper. It’s OK to have an opinion and to voice it to those who care to hear it (or read it.) But I don’t care to see it printed in my local paper that I used to look forward to receiving in my mail each Thursday.

CHEERS AND THANK YOU TO: The Sunshine girls! What a nice surprise! Thanks so much. God Bless.
-Love, Madelene and Brenda
JEERS TO: The individual(s) who took the red gazing ball off its stand in our front yard -- shame  on you! When did your mother ever tell you it was ok to steal? And to area residents: If you have recently received a bright red  ball for your globe stand, that did not come in the manufacturer’s box, you could be in possession of stolen property . . . ours.
-Highway 33 residents,
Earl and Becky Cox

CHEERS TO: Rick Krider and the park employees for making our baseball and softball diamonds the best in the area. As we traveled around the area for All-Star play, it was quite evident that we have the best maintained facilities of any park around. We also had several compliments from visiting teams on how nice our fields were.  Thank you for your time and dedication!
-Churubusco Youth League Board of Directors
AND CHEERS TO: The local businesses, too numerous to mention here, that sponsored teams or donated money and materials.  Without your support, the Churubusco Youth League would not be solvent. For a complete list of sponsors, go to buscoball.org.
Please support these local businesses!
-Churubusco Youth League Board of Directors
AND WHATABOUT: Donating used bats and other equipment to the Churubusco Youth League? They will also accept used gloves, batting gloves, balls, soccer jerseys and soccer balls to give to families that may be having financial difficulties. Please contact any board member, or Kevin Martz at 693-7972 to make a donation of equipment or cash.  Thanks!

CHEERS TO: All Summer Reading Program participants. Congratulations on sharing in the joys of the “Make Music at Your Library” Summer Reading Program. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the experience and will be back visiting the library on a regular basis. And a special thanks go to the local McDonald’s and the new owners, Dick and Judy Liddlefield, personnel, Brad Laker and Kaley Van Horn, along with Ronald McDonald, for making our finale such a success. Ronald was wonderful and the refreshments served by the local McDonald’s were very special.
Without everyone’s full cooperation, the program would not have been a success. Again, thank you one and all.
-Carol M. Scherer,
Library Director and Library staff
CHEERS TO: Eagle Do-It-Best for donating plywood to the Football Moms for making football signs for the incoming freshman players. Thank you so much! AND CHEERS TO: Bob Egolf for supplying watermelon to the Busco High School Football team. Your generosity is truly appreciated by the team and us.

CHEERS AND THANK YOU TO: The Turtle Town Players Company for the donation from “Celebrate Our Favorites” musical fundraiser. And above all, you all were wonderful and entertaining. Hopefully next time all of Churubusco will turn out, as you are worthy of a standing room only performance.
We, at the Churubusco United Methodist Church Soup to Shut-In Ministry want to take this moment to thank you for your very generous donation to the Soup Ministry. Last year we delivered over 3400 bowls of soup to Churubusco and the surrounding community from November thru March.
As a delivery person I can tell you all that not one bowl was unappreciated.  The grateful smiles and thank you's are more than enough to keep this ministry afloat.
-Bill Lewis and Emily Munk and all of
the volunteers
CHEERS TO: The Churubusco Post 157 American Legion Riders who traveled to Fort Campbell, TN to honor fallen soldier SFC John H. Jarrell. SFC Jarrell was killed in Afghanistan July 15 and was the son-in-law of area residents Ward and Dee Krause. Our community should be proud of the Churubusco American Legion Post.
