shellman0522Beth and Mark ShellmanALBION, Ind. — the 2013 Chain O’Lakes Festival Grand Marshals are Mark and Beth Shellman. They have selected the theme “Treasure Each Day.”

“For Where your Treasure is, there your Heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:12).  This Bible verse describes our lives.  Our hearts are in Albion.  We treasure our family, friends, and the great outdoors,” Beth Shellman noted.

Mark and Beth Shellman were raised on farms in rural Albion. Mark attended York Center School and Beth attended Green Center School, both are CN graduates. They have been married 25 years and have been blessed with two sons - Dillon, 20,  and Boone, 16. They live a few miles west of Albion in a home they constructed together in 1989.

Mark retired from full time work a few years ago and is currently self-employed. He spends most of his time outdoors farming, fishing, hunting, beekeeping, gardening and landscaping.  Beth presently serves as the Albion Town Manager and has worked for Chain O’ Lakes State Park, Noble County EMS and Noble County Government. Beth volun-teers on several community committees and in her free time enjoys sports, fishing, Zumba, collecting lighthouses and being outdoors.  They are certified pyro-technicians and help with the Rubber Duck Race, Family Fun Day fundraiser to support Albion’s annual Independence Day

fireworks display.

The couple are members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Albion Masonic Lodge; Prentiss Chapter Order of Eastern Star; Sons of the American Legion; American Legion Auxiliary; Noble County Historical Society; Albion Rotary Club; Courthouse Square Preservation Society; Super Town of Albion (STAR) Team;  Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; National Rifle Association; Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.

Mark and Beth believe that Albion and Noble County should be proud of the many treasures they have to offer. This is a community with an abundance of recreational treasures such as town parks; Chain O’ Lakes State Park; Black Pine Animal Sanctuary; the many natural lakes of Northern Indiana, the Elkhart River and numerous nature preserves.”

Mark and Beth encourage families to take an outdoor adventure together - this could be as simple as a Treasure (Scavenger) Hunt in your own backyard. Life is an Adventure. Spend time with your family and “Treasure Each Day.”

Mark and Beth will be honored during the 2013 Chain O’Lakes Festival Parade which will take place on Saturday, June 8, beginning at 5 p.m. in Albion.
